Sinaasappel & Limoen

Drinking this beer got me reading up on the history of Gose beers. Growing up in the SF Bay Area during a rise of so many craft breweries, a gose was just a new beer with some salt in it to me. Reading upon the rich history behind the Gose, beers originally brewed is Goslar, though Leipzig has claimed them for their own now, and how it got an exemption from using traditional beer ingredients due to it being a regional specialty, to it stopping production twice in it’s life.

One of my favorite things is trying something new. A new beer style/flavor, a new recipe, a new food pairing, a new way to drink, a new location, or view, or weather, it all changes the mood and profile of the beer.  Drinking this on a sunny day while working with friends makes me want to drink this all day. Coming in at 7.5% abv, it’s quite strong, and very dangerous for how drinkable it is.  This beer is perfect for a borrel, with lots of savory, sweet, and salty snacks to refresh your palate before enjoying your next sip. Would also love to have this after a nice hike, or long run.

There’s a slight sour smell on the nose, a nice rich amber color pleases the eyes in the glass. Sour citrus comes through in mid to aftertaste, really refreshing and very drinkable. Sea salt permeates throughout and leaves that with a nice orangey finish and an extra hit of umami from the kaffir lime as it hits. Nothing is overpowering, and this beer will be on my drinking list while available!

Cheerz!
