The Sassafras albidum is also a tree from that region with oil is supposed to have special qualities. The observant reader will notice that the name on the label Safrasas is spelled wrong. And so it is.

Description EBC 120 29 EBU One of the limited Borefts 2016 specials. Translates as... well, this is a hard one... Framboos is the Dutch word for raspberry. But 'boos' also means 'angry'. Framblij is a non existing word in Dutch. But 'blij' means 'happy'. So the little joke is the contradiction between boos & blij. Hopefully it's still kind of funny explained like this. If not: just enjoy the beer! 100 Kilo's of local raspberries found their way into this fruity stout (and clogged the filters afterwards, but we forgave them).

The heavily peated Port Charlotte single malts of Bruichladdich are a tribute to the men who once worked this great, now silent, distillery. Description Dry-hopped with Amarillo from the United States of America and a respectable alcohol percentage. Those are the basis elements of this Double IPA, a style developed in the USA. Description Tsarina Esra is an imperial porter. A style with his roots in England from many ages ago. It's fullness, it's richness in flavor and it's warming feeling makes it perfect for cold nights. Because of the enduring barrel aging in Ardbeg whisky barrels, this edition is enriched with crazy (really!) peat flavours. It was injected with Brett while in the barrels. Flavor indication: Chocolate, liquorice, funky peaty

Description In January 2016 our friends Txus and Eneko from Laugar Brewery (Basque Country) came over for a collaboration. It's turned out as a crazy but genius triple Saison-ish with salt, rye, smoked whisky malts and infused with bourbon. While thinking of a name for this new puppy we decided to combine two icons of our own cultures, Txapela & Klompen. Txapela being the traditional Basque headwear & Klompen being the traditional Dutch footwear. The beer is unpronounceable in both our languages now - probably neither in yours - but, hey... 'that's De Molen for ya'.

Ingredients ingredients: water, barley malts (pils, caramel, chocolate, roasted, brown), bitter hops (simcoe, amarillo, apollo), late hop(saaz), top fermenting yeast, barrel aged.

Description Translates as Divide & Conquer. This beer barrel aged for the good part of a year in a variety of peated whiskey barrels. Among others Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich. We also added the wild yeast Brettanomyces (aka brett) to the barrels to gain it's special effect to the beer.

Ingredients Water. Pale and caramel barley malts. Bitter hops: cascade. Dry hops: amarillo, colombus, chinook, citra.Yeast (top fermented).

Description Vuur & Vlam is an overly hopped beer. Yet, it's  not aggressive in it's bitterness or too grassy from the hops. We mainly retrieve the fruit and floral aromas from the hops. Giving it a huge hop character with the nasty bitterness. Flavor indication: citrus, floral, light grassy. Translates as Fire & Flames

Barley Wine-ish (Bourbon Barrel Aged)

Ingredients Water, barley malts (pils, caramel), bitter hops (premiant), top fermenting yeast, barrel aged.

Description Pours deep brown garnet with a dark tan head which slowly disappears. Aroma is quite decadent with booze, vanilla, oak, buttercream, toffee & ofcourse bourbon. In taste the sweetness overpowers any bitterness that may try and get a look in. It's hard to guess the ABV. A dangerous but delicious lady!  (Ratebeer.com: 99 overall & 98 style) Translates as Wind & Weather

White Witch

Description Classic Belgian style Saison with a little twist. Very refreshing, light citric, herbal and hoppy. What else do you need on a sunny summer afternoon? Flavor indication: fruity, citric, grassy, herbal

Zon & Gezelligheid

Description EBU 9 - 31 EBU - Specila limited brew for Borefts 2016. A nice refreshing beer, sweet from the apricots with a light bitterness from the almonds. Translates as Sun & Good Times (hard to find a translation for 'gezelligheid' it's like cosy-ness or something :)

Zus & Zo

Description Zus & Zo is a beautiful Saison, nicely fresh, a great beer to drink with higher temperatures. This beer has a light citrus like aroma combined with a tones of malt and yeast. Flavor indication: fruity, grassy, citrus. Translates as Such & So

Zwart & Wit

Pale Ale-ish (Black/Dark IPA)

Description Zwart & Wit has a smooth mouth feel and combines both the hoppiness of a classic IPA and the light roasted malt flavor of a stout. Flavor indication: grassy, hoppy, light roasted. Translates as Black & White
